BlueForce Member Joins Red Cross Hurricane Harvey Relief
BlueForce supported one of our own team members, Chris Hosman, during his Red Cross Deployment to Austin as a Hurricane Harvey relief responder. The Red Cross effort, comprised of roughly 3,000 volunteers, worked alongside hundreds of other organizations that mobilized to provide assistance to the communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Chris provided Disaster Technology Support for the Austin Red Cross headquarters which oversaw and supported four evacuation shelters, one staff shelter, and a kitchen/feeding hub.
The headquarters staff of approximately 150 coordinated housing, feeding, transportation, and medical & mental health care for the residents and Red Cross staff in all locations. Not only did they help to shelter, feed, and transport 1,500 Red Cross volunteers, but they also signed up and trained more than 10,000 spontaneous volunteers overall. The relief initiative is now focusing on repair and recovery efforts. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the residents of Texas and surrounding states who have been impacted by the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey.
BlueForce Team Works with Building Homes for Heroes
BlueForce Inc. is honored to have had the opportunity to work with the Building Homes for Heroes Organization. This picture is from our outdoor work day, helping to prepare the yard for our Heroes to move in. They received the keys to their home on 28 July 2016.
BlueForce Community Support in South Sudan
From 2011 – 2014 BlueForce was supporting the Ministry Advisory Training Team (MATT) contract with the Department of State Africa Bureau. While in South Sudan, BlueForce and its employees were engaged in helping a local Juba school, The Redeemer School, run by Sister Adriana Dwoki. After noticing the children kicking rolled up vines around, the team provided soccer balls for the kids. Upon inquiry about the school’s needs, BlueForce further assisted by providing a water tank and siting for clean water, as well as assisting with the teachers’ salaries in order to keep the school afloat as it was providing sorely needed educational opportunities to children in a country long torn by civil war. Individual BlueForce employees also purchased potable water from the UN monthly and provided school supplies. BF employees also worked with Girl Scout Troop 293 in Honolulu, Hawaii, which raised funds to build and provide much appreciated desks for the students.
BlueForce proudly supports the following organizations with people power, funding or both:
Building Homes For Heroes
Fraternal Order of Police
Bacon Street Youth and Family Services
Special Olympics (Including Polar Plunge)
The Redeemer School in Juba, South Sudan
